The first game that I ever played was on some old console that I don't even remember the name of. At the time of writing this, I am 17 years old. I am not as old as most gaming journalists you'd find, and I am no expert. I know it was some old Nintendo console, but not sure which one exactly. It wasn't even mine, a friend across the hall owned one and I went over to him to play it.
The first console that I owned myself, was the original PlayStation. Heck, I even bought the damn console before I had a TV. Times were rough when I was young, not much money was in our pockets. I wasn't allowed to use my console on the main TV in our living room, because people often used it. I had to wait, after getting my own console for about a month until I could start playing. I was around 7 or 8 at the time.
The first game that I purchased (also before I could actually play it) was Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro. To be fair, my mother bought it for me. We didn't know anything about games, which one's were good and which one's reeked of failure. Spider-Man. He's cool right?
I had one hell of a time. To this day, I haven't completed the game. I can remember playing and being crap at it. No skill in games, death after death but kept coming back to it. Video-Games were a way for me to retreat from reality, and enter my own little world which I had control of. Having rules when you're a kid, and suddenly you've been granted access to a different reality where you are an adult? Yes, please! Writing this post, I went to find a picture of the game and I can't believe the nostalgic feeling that I have.

After a while, I stacked up a pretty decent game collection. I had a blast with my PS1. Probably never fully completed a game, but it didn't matter. Back then, games seemed so massive. I remember playing one of the Harry Potter games, spending months playing it, but never completing it. Yes I realise that I was just crap and it's not never-ending. But I never got bored of the games. That's what matters. (I think)
What happened then? The Playstation 2, then 3 and 4.
